Over the course of my career as a central office administrator, I had the pleasure of working with groups of teachers and administrators to research best practices in supervision, and used that research as a basis for developing district-wide differentiated supervision plans. The committees developed forms that were used as part of the formal teacher observation process as well as options for self-directed development and peer collaboration and observation opportunities. The collaborative process of developing these supervision plans led to the use of supervision methods which promoted increased empowerment and growth for teachers. Below are copies of the plan, the presentation used to explain the plan to the board, form developed for use in formal teacher observations, and a sheet of tips for observers to help ensure consistency in their write-ups of classroom observations.
